FC Dallas forward Kenny Cooper was named MLS
Comeback Player of the Year on Saturday.
Cooper, who also earned a spot on the league's Best XI team on Saturday, missed
most of last season with a broken leg but bounced back to score 18 goals this
year. Fourteen of Cooper's 18 goals either tied games or gave Dallas the lead.
He started all 30 games for Dallas - the only player on the team to accomplish
that feat - and his 18 goals were second only to Los Angeles' Landon Donovan.
When Cooper scores, Dallas is 19-1-9 all-time. Cooper was a First XI selection
for the Sierra Mist MLS All-Star team that beat West Ham, and was twice named
the MLS Player of the Week (Weeks 18 and 19). He was also voted the team's Most
Valuable Player.
